Darkroom Supplies

Taking Darkroom Inventory

A darkroom contains a number of items that is required to have a successful film development results. The first ones that you would notice when you walk into a darkroom would be the equipment around it. However, there is a big difference between the equipment and the supplies inside. When we speak about equipment, these are the things that can be reused for a very long time until it needs to be replaced as a result of damages or upgrades. Supplies on the other hand refer to the items that are consumable and would need to be constantly replenished.

Darkroom supplies are implicative mostly on papers and chemicals that are required in the process. When it comes to chemicals, it is important to have every single one at hand without ever compromising the ratio that is needed. Each chemical is meant to be used for a specific purpose. Some of these would include the stop bath solution, photo-flo solution, paper developer (multi-grade), fixer solution, ifosol, film developer, clearing agent, wetting agent, bleach and reversal baths. Paper on the other hand is a whole new story. Above all other things, there are small items that can be considered as supplies and as part of the equipment as they can be reusable. However, these would also need to be replaced more constantly from wear and tear. These includes antistatic clothes for wiping the film and the dried photos, red eye remover pen, tape, blades for cutting, data markers and other retouching kits for even better results.
